Bots on Kik are designed to enhance the messaging experience while ensuring a safe and positive environment for all users. Like all members of the Kik community, bots must adhere to our Community Standards and safety guidelines. These rules help protect users and maintain genuine interactions on the platform. Behavioral Guidelines

Bots must follow Kik's Community Standards, which prohibit illegal content, harmful behavior, and abusive interactions. Bots must not:

• Share, promote, or facilitate access to illegal content, including but not limited to:
  • Child exploitation materials, including sexually explicit content involving minors
  • Illegal drugs, weapons, and other prohibited goods and services.
  • Any bot found engaging in or enabling illegal activities will be immediately removed and reported to the appropriate authorities.
• Facilitate or encourage hate speech, discriminatory content, and content that promotes violence, self-harm, or dangerous activities.
• Engage in fraudulent or deceptive behavior, such as impersonating individuals or organizations, spreading misinformation, or encouraging scams.
• Be used to harass, bully, or threaten users in any form.
• Spam, mass message, or send unsolicited messages.
• Encourage users to misuse Kik’s reporting features.

Technical Requirements

Bots must operate within Kik’s platform limitations and are prohibited from circumventing safety features, bypassing moderation systems, or interfering with platform restrictions.

• Exploiting forwarding features, operating bot networks, or engaging in coordinated activities that violate Kik’s policies is not permitted.
• Bots must function in a way that maintains the integrity of the platform and respects user safety.

Privacy & Security Requirements

Protecting user privacy and maintaining security is a priority. Bots must not store user messages or content without authorization, collect personal information, or share user data with third parties. They must respect user privacy settings, including blocks, and ensure compliance with data protection laws such as GDPR and CCPA.

Bots must also implement safety measures to prevent security threats. They are strictly prohibited from distributing malware, engaging in phishing attempts, or attempting unauthorized access to user accounts. Exploiting platform vulnerabilities is not allowed, and any security concerns must be promptly reported to Kik.

Reporting Violations

Bots are required to report cases to Medialab if a user submits messages or content that violates Kik’s Community Standards. Ensuring a safe platform is a shared responsibility, and bots must contribute to upholding Kik’s guidelines.

Enforcement

Failure to comply with these guidelines may result in immediate suspension of the bot. In cases of severe violations, Kik may report to relevant authorities as necessary.

Bots that operate on Kik must prioritize safety, security, and compliance with our policies at all times.
